Especially when it's missing from the word peering.
(I won't tell you what letter it was, but it completely changed the scene.)

It's not funny. It's terrifying.
Whenever I see a movie, tv show, or ad where they have someone falling on a treadmill as a joke, I always wonder if the person who came up with the idea had even fallen on one before. If they had, I don't think they'd have made the joke. I think they'd be thinking about how long it took the skin that was sanded off to grow back, and the utter terror they experienced when it happened.

I just don't.
I don't understand it when authors or anyone else apologizes for killing a character.
If it had to happen and served the needs of the story, then there's no reason to apologize.
If anything, the apology makes it sound like the death was a mistake.
If it was, fine.
If it wasn't, and you're doing it because people got sad or mad or angry on the internet, not so fine.
(That's not to say that you can't feel bad about killing a character.
You can.
You just don't need to apologize for doing it.)
